Our homes have never provided a safe retreat quite like they have in 2020. And that is expected to remain unchanged as we move into spring 2021.
While we may venture out more and more in the months ahead, as the weather starts warming up and signs of spring begin to appear, it’s likely you will still crave the comfort and security of home. Especially if 2021 already has you feeling stressed and tired.
If so, here are a few design tips to help refresh you and your home!
Create Tranquil Surroundings
2020 brought more hustle and bustle than we ever thought possible, and it doesn’t look as if that trend is going to change anytime soon.
What will change is a demand for a soothing place that will act as a distraction from the outside world, even if we don’t venture out into it as much.
You can add tranquility in a lot of different ways, such as softer lines in furniture choices, more natural elements such as wood and greenery, and stacking books and blankets to encourage reading or snuggling up for a favorite show.
Sentimental Elements
Don’t let sentimentality be reserved for the holidays alone. Use traditional, old-world-style pieces that reflect the things that remind you of family near and far.
This may mean pieces that were actually handed down through generations, or replicas of traditional pieces brought into the home that remind us of loved ones. Whatever it may be, as long as it has meaning and significance that is personal to you, it can serve as a heartwarming reminder of those you love.
Lighter Wood Grain
While white-on-white-on-white may have seen its heyday, lighter textures will still be making its rounds, specifically when it comes to wood grain choices.
Gray will be replaced with softer beige tones, and the first place to see this may be in your dining room furniture. Additionally, lighter wood grains will be found in picture frames on walls and staircase railings, offsetting bolder wall colors that will become more popular, too.
A lightening of the overall color tone of a room can also have a lightening effect on your mood as well. Something to consider as we move into the spring season.
Color Splash
Bold, bright colors will begin to make a comeback this year, although not in the way it did in the ‘80s (can we get an Amen!). Deeper color pallets will make their way onto the walls in the choicest of ways, as well as in the kitchen as greens and blues will replace grays and whites for cabinets and island choices.
A little color goes a long way in brightening a room, but as we mentioned above, it can have the same effect on your outlook and mood.
If Walls Could Talk
They would likely tell a story. In fact, the more personal you can be with your wall decor the better, as the drab picture frames and canned art are becoming less appealing.
Along with bolder wall colors and lighter woods, vinyl decals and decorations for living rooms, dining rooms are becoming more en vogue as people desire a unique way to be both inviting and unique, without breaking their budget to do so.
And the best part? Decals aren’t just reserved for inside your home anymore. Be sure to explore our outdoor collection as you think about creating an entry when you are ready to once again welcome others into your home — and into your story.
We hope these five tips will help to give you and your home a big boost as we head into the spring season!

Cool website!
My name’s Eric, and I just found your site – storyofhomedecals.com – while surfing the net. You showed up at the top of the search results, so I checked you out. Looks like what you’re doing is pretty cool.
But if you don’t mind me asking – after someone like me stumbles across storyofhomedecals.com, what usually happens?
Is your site generating leads for your business?
I’m guessing some, but I also bet you’d like more… studies show that 7 out 10 who land on a site wind up leaving without a trace.
Not good.
Here’s a thought – what if there was an easy way for every visitor to “raise their hand” to get a phone call from you INSTANTLY… the second they hit your site and said, “call me now.”
You can –
Talk With Web Visitor is a software widget that’s works on your site, ready to capture any visitor’s Name, Email address and Phone Number. It lets you know IMMEDIATELY – so that you can talk to that lead while they’re literally looking over your site.

Time is money when it comes to connecting with leads – the difference between contacting someone within 5 minutes versus 30 minutes later can be huge – like 100 times better!
That’s why we built out our new SMS Text With Lead feature… because once you’ve captured the visitor’s phone number, you can automatically start a text message (SMS) conversation.
Think about the possibilities – even if you don’t close a deal then and there, you can follow up with text messages for new offers, content links, even just “how you doing?” notes to build a relationship.
Wouldn’t that be cool?
